WOODVALE COMMUNITY LEAGUE EXECUTIVE MEETING DECEMBER 18, 2007 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Barry Headrick, Jacquie Breitkreitz, Angela Schneider, Alice Park, Brad Park, Bruce Pettersson, Dennis Emmerling, Paul Chiasson, Neal Gray, Christina Gray, Gene Starling, Shawna Middleton GUESTS: Jay Row Meeting called to order by Alice Park at 7:35pm. Minutes were not available to be accepted, and will be accepted at the January meeting. REPORTS: Treasurer: Barry Headrick Barry handed out the profit and loss statement for seven months ending October 31, 2007. It showed a net year-to-date of $52,000, it also showed money spent on the rink upgrades and that bingos were down about half from the previous year. Barry moved that the report be adopted for information only. Community Services: Jay Row Jay wished the Board a Merry Christmas from the City and passed around the CRC notes. The first time home buyers meeting are going well, he noted that there is a lot of constructive input for the site development. Woodvale received the $300 ice it up grant, and still needs to pay the STEP grant from the summer. MCARFA/EFCL: Neal Gray Neal was away for the Christmas social where MCARFA announced the funding for the Jackie Parker spray park. Woodvale hosted the EFCL AGM in October. Bingo: Gene Starling The playschool’s December 6th bingo had only 3 of its 6 volunteers show up. There is a New Year’s Eve bingo and there will be a dinner afterwards for $5 a ticket until the 26th when it goes up to $10. Millwoods Presidents Council: Christina Gray Nothing to report. Greenview School: Shawna Middleton The school concert went well and school is out for the Christmas break on Friday. Canada Day: Dennis Emmerling Looking for volunteers and replacing groups that are no longer participating. The entertainment bookings are starting and they are actively seeking performers. Publicity: Vacant We missed the deadline, but was able to get it in. Reimbursements: Jacquie Breitkreitz Reimbursements are going well. Activity Center: Kumarie Morrison (by report) The activity center has been cleaned and the locks are going to be changed by AVIS. The future of the existing building was discussed, as to renovate, build a new building. The skate shack does not function well and should be expanded and have lockable teams for when they practice. 66th Street Sign: Paul Chiasson The sign is going well, there is enough things to put on there until February. Web Site: Christina Gray The website was updated today, but was unsure of the first time homebuyers update and Alice was going to look into it. The bingo information will be posted when Christina gets the information. Casino: Angela Schneider The dates for the casino will be put on the website and determine at the next meeting what to use the funds for. Community Affairs: Bruce Petterson Bruce reported about the two meetings so far on the first time home buyers on November 28th and December 10th. They were well organised and professional, the next meeting is on January 21st at 7pm at the golf course. CORRESPONDENCE AND PRESIDENTS REPORT Alice is noting some difficulties with the presidents job, and is in need of help. Still in need of hall operations chair, very urgent. A committee should be formed to look into the future of the activity center. The planning will start at the January meeting that way it can go to a vote at the AGM. BUISNESS ARISING Rink Upgrades: Brad Park The rink is finished and up and running, it was behind schedule (the ice was in before the fence was). It is being completely utilized by teams and the public. There is only one players box with two doors since it is mainly used for shinny and practices, not full games. The tractor should be here in about a week and up and running, a 6’X12’ shed is being rented for the time being until a permanent structure is built. NEW BUISNESS Bylaws: Alice Park Alice distributed a draft of the bylaws and will discuss them at the January meeting. NEXT MEETING January 15, 2008 at the Activity Center.
