WOODVALE COMMUNITY LEAGUE EXECUTIVE MEETING Date: Feb. 20/07 MINUTES BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Ran Newby , Heather Lajeunesse, Dennis Emmerling, Cheryl Emmerling, Paul Chiasson, Larry McDonald, Chacko Thomas, Neal Gray, Christina Gray, Barry Headrick, Jacquie Breitkreitz, Shawna Middleton, Gene Starling, Rajiv Sinha. Second by: Shawna Middleton Carried. REPORTS: Treasurer: Barry Headrick We have had an incredible year. Community centre revenue is up. Bingo is down slightly. Trish is moving to the position of Restaurant Manager. She is being replaced by Sandy Wolver. Barry moved this report be accepted for information. Play School: Dawn Van Ameyde attended on behalf of the playschool. She brought to the boards attention the problem with parents of Greeenview school parking in the Playschool spots. She requested more visible signs. We agreed to check with the transportation dept. to see if we can obtain Tag and Tow signs. The playschool is also concerned with the skylight. It is breaking and they are worried it is a safety hazard. The board will ask Margaret to have some tradesman replace the poly with plywood until the snow and ice melt and it can be fixed safely. Community Services: Jay Row Hillview Playground will have a Sportsvan come to utilize the basketball courts on Aug 1 and 8. This will require a change in the hours of operation for those 2 evenings. The playground supervisor will be aware of these changes. Survey for community services was filled out by Heather Lajeunesse and Shawna Middleton and sent in to Jay Row. Greenview School: Shawna Middleton Parking is still a great concern and the School Council/PAC is working on a solution. Reimbursements: Jacquie Breitkreitz Reimbursments are running smoothly. Mcarfa / EFCL: Neal Gray MCARFA held 2 meetings since our last meeting. The main focus being on Jackie Parker and the new spray park. The applied for grant has not been received as of yet. There is a little concern but the plans are moving ahead. MCARFA will be celebrating it's 30th anniversary this year. They will be holding their celebrations in the League banquet facilities. Millwoods Presidents Council: President' council is fundraising for the new youth facility. They are asking community leagues to help by selling books. More information to follow. President's council will be holding their casino on Mar. 16-17 and are in need of 3 volunteers. There will be reimbursements. Their next meeting will be focused on budget. Membership: Cheryl Emmerling. Soccer registration was held from Feb. 6-8 with late registration on the 17th. Forty-six memberships were sold. Bingo: Gene Starling Parkway will be closed on March 19 and 20 for the move to the old Riviera site at 8775-51 Avenue. The re-opening will be on March 21. Lost bingos because of the change will be Days: March 30 and August 8, Evening/Late night will be April 19th. Canada Day: Dennis Emmerling. Canada Day will be going ahead as planned. Woodvale volunteers will be responsible for the children's area tear down. Neal Gray has volunteered to oversee this. Hillview Baptist Youth will help with this. Eight volunteers are needed. Dennis also noted that the Canada Day committee is also looking for talent to perform. Celeste Nicholson: Publicity Celeste is happy to report that she has been receiving reports before the deadline. Paul Chiasson: 66th street sign. Woodvale free swim is currently being advertised. Activity Centre: Larry McDonald. Larry has had requests from groups wanting to use the Activity Centre. He hasn't had any confirmations as of yet. Business arising Ski night: Heather Lajeunesse Heather reported that ski night was a big success. 156 tickets were sold. A minor problem occurred with the tubing hill but was resolved in a timely and satisfactory manor. A financial statement will be given at next meeting. New Residential Development In Woodvale. Mark Klotz has volunteered to chair a sub committee and will report on any developments. New Business: Nominating committee: Nancy Newby called all board members, these are the results of her calls. Job descriptions will be sent to her for the March and April newsletters. New Business: Web site: Christina Gray has agreed to revamp the Woodvale website. She is looking for content to add to it. She will have 5 main links.
